Minimum Wage Increases

From 1^st October 2011 the national minimum wage will increase from:

- £5.93 to £6.08 an hour for workers aged 21 and over

- £4.92 to £4.98 an hour for workers aged 18 to 20

- £3.64 to £3.68 an hour for workers aged 16 to 17

The adult minimum wage rate has been extended to workers aged 21 or over from October 2010. Previously the qualifying age for the adult national minimum wage was 22.

The following rates apply to all apprentices from 1^st October 2010:

- £2.60 per hour for apprentices aged under 19

- £2.60 per hour for apprentices aged 19 and over, but in their first year of their apprenticeship
