Today we join colleagues around the world in celebrating Auditor Proud Day, shining a light on the people who make our audit practice exceptional. This year we’re highlighting three Audit Seniors whose paths to Baker Tilly Mooney Moore span continents and career stages: Micheal Murphy, Rocel Asuncion and Tapiwa Mhari.
Micheal began his journey with our Graduate Programme in 2021 after studying accounting at Queen’s University Belfast. Now a fully qualified Chartered Accountant, he has thrown himself into life inside and outside the office, from the Belfast Exposed Photography Project to the marathon relay and a Conservation Volunteers Day, describing his training as “challenging and rewarding in equal measure, with a team always ready to share knowledge”.
Rocel moved from the Philippines to Northern Ireland bringing more than nine years of audit experience across the Philippines, Singapore and Australia. A Certified Public Accountant with a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy, she has worked with clients from real estate trusts to schools and not-for-profit organisations and led the billing and sales team of one of the Philippines’ largest rental businesses. “Audit work is universal,” she reflects, “but every client and culture teaches you something new. I love that our team values those different perspectives.”
Originally from Cape Town, Tapiwa has also built a truly international career. With a postgraduate diploma in Financial Accounting and a Bachelor of Accounting Services from the University of South Africa, he is an ACCA affiliate and an Associate General Accountant with the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants. He has served as an Audit Senior with SAPRO, collaborating with teams in South Africa, India, the USA and Australia, and has worked across industries from manufacturing and IT to hospitality and pharmaceuticals. “The variety keeps me motivated,” he says. “Every engagement is a chance to see how different businesses operate and to bring best practices from around the world.”
Though their routes differ, Micheal, Rocel, and Tapiwa share a commitment to quality, curiosity and client service that defines our audit team. As Rocel puts it: “Audit is more than checking figures; it’s understanding businesses and helping them thrive.”
“It’s about relationships as much as numbers,” Tapiwa adds, while Micheal sums it up simply: “Seeing a client succeed because of insights we’ve provided is incredibly rewarding.”
This Auditor Proud Day we celebrate their collective talent, their global perspectives and the shared dedication that help our clients – and each other – move forward every day.
