As we celebrate Apprenticeship Week, we are delighted to catch up with Adrien Pelan, our first ever employee to complete the Belfast Met Higher Level Apprenticeship Scheme.

Adrien graduated from the scheme in the summer of 2019 and has continued her career in Business Services, assisting clients to manage their accounts. With four years now under her belt, Adrien advises a range of clients, supporting them right throughout the Covid-19 pandemic. She feels her two years as an Apprentice prepared her well for her current role.

“Working in Business Services, no two days are the same and my role is a mixture of going out to meet with clients, understanding their business, providing advice and preparing accounts. Right from the beginning of my Apprenticeship in 2017, I was given the opportunity to provide bookkeeping and accountancy services for a range of clients in various different sectors. I have built on my experience from there, but I will always be proud to have been the first employee to finish the Belfast Met Higher Level Apprenticeship scheme, and highly recommend it to anyone interested in becoming an accountant.”

Alongside accounting, Adrien’s time with us has involved a take over of the Baker Tilly International Instagram account for the day and exploring the benefits of pet therapy with Darcey, the Northern Ireland Hospice therapy dog sponsored by Baker Tilly Mooney Moore.

Business Services Partner Stephen McConnell commented that Adrien is a “strong asset to the team who has grown professionally since 2017, from our first apprentice to a reliable, respected business advisor”.
