This week, we’re catching with up with Graduate Tax Trainee, Ciara Mallon. Ciara began working for Baker Tilly Mooney Moore in 2020 and has had a very busy January, dealing with the personal tax deadline for the first time!

“Before graduating from Queen’s University Belfast in July 2020, I applied to Baker Tilly Mooney Moore’s Tax Graduate Scheme and was invited to interview. Our Consulting Partner, Donal Laverty, and Tax Director, Angela Keery, gave me a real insight into the firm during the process.

They explained that the Tax department is growing along with the rest of the firm, and I immediately knew that I could see myself working here. I accepted the position in early January 2020, shortly before the pandemic hit and began work the following August. I haven’t looked back since and really love the culture at Baker Tilly Mooney Moore. I recently took part in our 50 mile January challenge.

I’m lucky to have been surrounded by a very supportive Tax team. They’ve really encouraged and guided me through the first seven months at the firm. Colleagues at all levels have collaborated to adapt to this new normal and ensure that our clients continue to receive the very best service. I’m currently studying towards my Association of Tax Technicians qualification and will then progress to do the Chartered Tax Advisor qualification with the Chartered Institute of Taxation! I’m very much looking forward to what the future holds here at Baker Tilly Mooney Moore.”
